According to Prof. Adeolu Durotoye "To make democracy work, we must be a nation of participants, not simply observers. One who does not vote has no right to complain. Democracy must be built through open societies that share information.
When there is information, there is enlightenment. When there is debate, there are solutions. When there is no sharing of power, there can not be rule of law, no accountability, there will be abuse of power, corruption and all forms of social vices".
Prof Adeolu Durotoye who is a political cum Economic scientist, also maintained that “Despite the challenges we have faced in our effort to firmly establish our democratic institutions and deepen democratic values, the non-interruption of our democracy since 1999, is proof of its overwhelming popularity and acceptance.”
He added that “Democracy has proven to be the best form of government for human development and advancement, because it encourages the participation of everyone in the society and we are happy that it is now firmly rooted in our country.
Furthermore, the OSUN 2018 Guber Aspirant, stated that our ethnic diversity In Nigeria, should be a strength and not a weakness. Nigeria can make positive impact, if all hands are put on desk. Finally, He enjoined all and sundry not to forget the contributions of our Heroes past. The people who have laid down their lives and made sacrifices for the development of Nigeria. “In our efforts to promote and protect democratic institutions, we should not forget the roles and sacrifices of our gallant armed forces in the checkered history of nation-building"
NIGERIA SHALL RISE AGAIN.
